I set up this blog to provide some updates on the status of Elis whilst he was in the Neonatal Unit following his birth three months early on 18th June 2007. The blog and his photos are now available as a book from http://stores.lulu.com/store.php?fAcctID=1669468.

Thank you

Thank you for helping us say farewell to Elis. Under the circumstances, we had a good day yesterday and finally having him home and in his bedroom felt so right. We were able to laugh and cry together whilst sharing our memories and love for him.

We know that he has all he needs now - he has his angel bear for love, his bunny blanket for protection, his Humphrey bear for friendship and his dummy for comfort. We shall all miss him dearly but he will be forever in our hearts.

Thank you also for your donations towards something for the Neonatal Unit in memory of Elis. I will update this post to keep a track of the total.

I would like to say a personal thank you to Elis, Josie, Glyn & all the family for sharing a very private afternoon with me. Friday was a very special day which felt complete and a lovely way to say goodbye.
I was extremely proud to nurse such a courageous and cheeky little monkey who tore at my heart strings every shift.
Through watching Josie and Elis together I have gained valuable lessons in patience and perserverance, to name but two. The two of you have helped me as a mum to appreciate and enjoy every second with my children. (I'm also a lot calmer when they are beginning to be naughty!)
You both should be very proud of your son and yourselves as fabulous parents and I know Elis loved you all very, very much.
I shall never forget Elis he will be forever in my heart.
Thank you again for sharing goodbye. Don't be stangers, visit when the time is right for you.
Love to you all,
nos da Elis bach,

love your fairy god-nurse Gail xxx
