We haven't had a particularly good weekend with Elis despite his Nain. Taid and Anti coming to visit! His oxygen requirements suddenly increased quite dramatically and he was labouring much more to breathe. However, he had clear blood tests and a chest Xray overnight on Sunday night which showed no evidence of infection so he was given an extra dose of diuretic in case it was caused by a build up of fluid in the lungs and that seems to have done the trick. He is now back on one litre of oxygen and seems pretty stable again. Unfortunately, this little blip has again pushed everything back whilst we wait to see if it happens again so the prospect of his homecoming seems to have evaporated once again. Gutted. We know that everything has to be in Elis' own time and there is no way we would (really) want him home before he is well and truly ready, but the longer it goes on the less emotional resilience I seem to have. I just need to get a grip again and deal with it - there are no other options.
Meanwhile, back to Elis! Despite his boosted diuretics, he has still gained a few grams in weight since Friday and is now just over 7lb 6oz.
I set up this blog to provide some updates on the status of Elis whilst he was in the Neonatal Unit following his birth three months early on 18th June 2007. The blog and his photos are now available as a book from http://stores.lulu.com/store.php?fAcctID=1669468.

Hello lovelies,
Gutted to hear about Elis' set back, we really hope he is better and oxygen demands coming back down. Hold in there lovelies, it must be so frustrating to not be able to bring him home yet but it will happen but as you said, when Elis is ready.
Elis will be so proud of his Mam and Dad when he's older of how strong, caring and wonderful they are. He probably knows already how much he is loved.
There is a cwch here for Mam & Dad whenever needed so that Mam & Dad can keep going - granted it would be a rather snotty one at the moment as there is still a big red cross on the front door! But you know what I mean.
Loads of love to all of you

Glad to hear that Elis is on the up again. He must overhear somebody say that he might go home and then decides to throw a wobbly. Don't know why because he will find even more love and cuddles at home. Try not to let it get you down. Think of these wobblys as an investment for less stress to come. You and Glyn have been through the mill and back again over the past months and must have experienced every emotion going. In time you will be able to distance yourself from the trauma of it all and will have a story to tell, to give comfort and hope to others going through similar experiences. Take heart, Elis is improving and your family life together will start anew in the not too distant future.
Love Dad and Mum xx
You can do it! All of you keep going you're fantastic parents and a great team.
