Almost as quickly as he came into this world, Elis slipped away from us last night whilst in my arms.
Our eternal thanks go to the staff at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, who against the odds, gave us time to get to know our precious son and above all, loved him too. Also to all our family and friends who have supported us through this ordeal. What an appalling year for us all.
Give your kids an extra big hug and kiss for Elis when you next see them. He couldn't have been more loved.
I set up this blog to provide some updates on the status of Elis whilst he was in the Neonatal Unit following his birth three months early on 18th June 2007. The blog and his photos are now available as a book from http://stores.lulu.com/store.php?fAcctID=1669468.

You've been the best parents he could have wanted. You surounded him with love, care and dedication. In such tough times you managed to show astonishing perseverance and patience. I'm very proud of you both and especially my little sister. David xxx
We can only echo David's comments. You have both been phenomenal parents and we are sure that Elis had a better short life because of your strength, love and care. You gave him everything you possibly could and now need to be even stronger and take care of each other. Elis touched hearts worldwide and will be missed dearly. He will never be forgotten. Josie, you have given me strength, courage and support over the past months during my time in the unit. You are an inspiration to every parent in SCBU and not many things evidently got you down. No matter how low I felt, you always managed to pick me up and I can't thank you enough for this.
Elis will always be in our thoughts and he will never be forgotten by anyone who had the honour of meeting him. Elis will be remebered to us as one of the "Three Musketeers" along with Jac.
Josie, please don't hesitate to contact me in anyway if there is anything I can do for you.
Always in our thoughts,
All our love,

We are heartbroken and devastated for you, as others have said we were convinced Elis was invincible and cannot even begin to imagine how you are feeling at this moment. You have both shown such courage over what has been an horrific year. We are so so sorry for your pain and loss and just want to throw our arms around you both to shield you from it all. Elis couldn't have wished for a better Mam and Dad, and he will never be forgotten.
Love and courage to you both, we are here for you, please take care of each other,

Saddly I never got round to meeting the young man - but I had been following his progress and like others was convinced little Elis was invincible.
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. You were both fantastic parents and more than Elis could have asked for.
All my love goes to you both and I hope your strength continues.
Please let me know if you need anything.

Dear Josie and Glyn,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss.
You have to try and take some comfort in the fantastic months you gave Elis. He couldn't have wished for better parents and was surrounded by so much love.
You both need to concentrate on supporting and loving each other to try and ease the pain.
If there is anything I can do you know I am always here.
Love Jeanette xxxxx
A friend of mine said that spiritually children chose their parents for the life lessons they learn... Ellis couldn't have chosen better! Your gift to him was unconditional love and even during your heartbreak I'm sure you'll are an inspiration to others.
I am SO incredibly saddened for you guys... Ellis has done more in his short life than others can every hope of achieving.
My thoughts are with you both and with your family. Sending you big hugs from Australia.....
Take care of each other
Lots of love

Josie, Glyn,
This is just absolutely tragic news.
I'm so grateful to you for maintaining your blog, as it has enabled me to feel like I knew Elis. He brought joy to my life. Thank you for sharing your time with Elis with us.
It is an absolutely heart-breaking end to your awful year, and we wish you all the love and strength in the world.
I'd like to echo the above messages, and say that it was plainly obvious how much love that little boy received. And I'm sure he knew it.
Love, Kieran x
Far out from the shadows came a sound,
Familiar, yet unknown.
A sound that felt the brightness of the light that shone,
From me.
And mixed up, I touched this light,
Tingling, smiling, crying.
And felt something that was always there,
Only shown by him;
Through him.
He dimmed;
And so I did.
He rose, and I rose.
Together, and now, separate.
He and the light that shines, stops.
Hushed shadows in all places,
And I feel something that was there, always
Shown by him.
Thinking of you both,
if there's anything I can do at all

Josie and Glyn,
We've been out of touch for a long time, and I only found out what you have been going through right now. I cannot imagine how you must be feeling, but am thinking of you and hope that all the goodwill shown in these postings helps just a little.
